Ben & Sam

Ben & Sam is a 2010 Filipino indie film, directed by Mark Shandii Bacolod and starring Ray An Dulay, Jess Mendoza, Micah Munoz, Ana Abad Santos and Tara Cabaero. The movie is about two campus kings who are in love.

Ben is haunted by painful memories of his abusive father, and is suffering even more at present due to his increasingly eccentric mother. He is eventually toughened by this condition. Sam, meanwhile, is still grieving the murder of his activist boyfriend. Both boys turn to recreational activities to forget their painful precedents; Ben becomes involved in basketball, while Sam takes up dancing.

Although Ben is surrounded by friends, he is unhappy, until a deep emotional connection and mutual admiration brings Ben and Sam together. Although Ben is confused, Sam is persistent and sincere, and their liaison eventually blossoms into something deeper.

    Finally, a gay-themed movie that makes sense and gives justice to the meaning of love - without necessarily alluding to a 'normal' man & woman relationship.

    Thanks to this site and to the maker of this film.

    Another masterpiece that showcases that when the Filipino wants to do good, it actually does better.

    galing! dpt ganito ang mga indie films hindi puro sex! third sex is not all about sex/flirting. they know also how to love sincerely. im so loving this movie. its real. lakas ng tawa ko nung tinayuan xa sa smack kiss nila ng una! hahaha

    The movie is amazing, grabe naka relate ako d2 .Naalala ko tuloy ung ka MU ko. Sasabihn may gusto skin tapos biglng lie low tapos dami pang kinikiring iba.my God , so flirty tlga nia pero kahit ganun cia , minamhal ko pa rin sia," martyr". Buti nalang bgo kami gragraduate sinayaw nia ako kahit nahiya ako at sinabi kong di ako marunong sumayaw.Hay !!! sana lumapit na cia at sbhin na gusto ko na maging stable tau. hindi ung no commitment kami. :(

    wala, eto na pinakamagandang indie na napanuod ko, bukod 3 times q na sya pinanuod.. nagflashback pa sakin ung oras at panahon.that.how i felt in love before.. Ung ganung pakiramdam.. Kumpleto.. To!!.. Lahat andito na.. Ang ganda.. Thumbsup... This was such great story. .. =)) nice one..

    I am Lance from the UK. I must submit that amongst all filipino indie films that I have seen, I LOVE this! So real, so unique, so sweet, etc. Masterpiece indeed! I am very hopeful that this will be recognised and awarded internationally. Beautiful gay love story!

    Very well presented. I have to agree with most of what the people said here, it's a delectable movie. It encompasses every real pieces of what true Gay life means.

    P.S.
    My tears fell down when Ben was in the class. He leaned to his left to view Sam's chair. Ben's arm reached over as if Sam's there to be hugged. whew.

    very informative...it helps in widening the horizons of an individual and at the same time touches our hearts.. it widens the imagination and way of judging one's self and identity... not just that, it shows how should we accept what is in front of us.. to be realistic and not more of an idealistic type... its not just a typical gay themed movie... im looking for more indie films like this..

    sobrang ganda ng story... sobrang relate ako kasi ganito rin story namin ng bf ko pero sana lang wag maging sad ending. Sa 5 years naming magkarelasyon, masasabi kong natagpuan ko na ang "BEN" ng buhay ko... i sana kayo rin... i love you bhe!!! :)

    i think they are not both gay per se rather they are bisexual.. homo and bi are different from each other.

    i thought twice to watch this indie film when i saw it. i told myself, its just another trashy movie which caters so many sex scenes and bad acting. but im glad i gave it a chance to see. I think this is one of the most beautiful storyline i have ever seen so far in the philippine movie industry. The story is well narrated and delivered to the audience clearly. I was moved by it personally. I could not help myself not to to think of my bf while watching this. I felt the anxiety, worries, and even happiness of ben in the movie. that's how i experienced them exactly. Now that, we are in the midst of complications, this movie strengthen my love to my bf. That i really love him and i want him beside me forever. My relationship with him means a lot for me. To the staff and crew, to the actors, the director, the writer, i congratulate all of you for a job well done. i appreciated your movie very much. you left a smile on my face, tears in my eyes that signifies love and happiness.

Nakarelate ako sa from the start but not till the end.Sana bumalik ang BEN ko. Maghihintay ako sayo hanggang sa huli.Alam ko hindi ka handa sa mga sinasabi ng iba pero maghihintay pa rin ako.

    what a great indiefilm even if i just brows it i skip some scene but in my mind i had watch the movie the full scene the actors and actres are good there are no wondering what is he doing or what is she doing the story line of the video was full chunck of lessons just try to reflect it part by part we will understand what is the story is all about so i encourage to all blogers and directors to continue to post a movie like this this movie deserves a standing ovation and a award in cinemlaya to the director and to the one that post this movie a job well done :-)

    Great indie film...A wake up call to everyone na sa katotohanan ay mangayayari...ipinakita ang lahat ng tamang dating ng storya na pawang hango sa katotohanan ng buhay...na minsan makikita mo ang totoong ikaw...at ano pa man sila as long na marunong silang magmahal at suporta ng bawat magulang...kaya't wag pag alipusta kung ano man sila sapagkat lahat ng tao may karapatang magmahal...2 thumbs up and standing ovation for this indie movie...

    if this would happen to me... to be honest i dont know what to do...sabi nga sa movie...in this film there is always truth that it shares...a reality that everyone of us relate to.... very dramatic yet inspiring...kudos.
